With the help from from Gold Mountain Coffee Growers, a social enterprise that works as a platform to connect small specialty coffee producers with roasters, we discovered the coffee from Juan Carlos. Juan Carlos, his wife Aracely and their small daughter Carla are a family of small coffee producers in the mountains of Jinotega. Juan Carlos is the second generation of coffee producers, his father was a producer and he introduced him to growing coffee.
When you visit their farm, you can hear and maybe be lucky enough to spot a howler monkey, and you can see tropical birds in the shade trees that shelter their coffee from too much sun.
When we tasted Juan Carlos’ coffee for the first time, what got our attention was the sweetness that remains mature fruit, the complexity in all of the flavors and his long aftertaste. It’s a coffee that is obvious that all of the details have been well taken cared, in the growing and in the drying process. It’s a well balanced coffee that you can enjoy in any brew method.
